Frustrated!

August 23, 2009 by Pamela

I’ve been doing really well lately. Cooking at home, watching what I eat, etc…

My stupid weight is stuck! I’ve been the same weight (give or take an ounce) for two weeks.

SUCK!

In other frustrating news, I have glucose toxicity and had to double my insulin. It is helping to bring my numbers down but my fasting sugars are still in the mid 200’s.

Trying to stay motivated.

But URGH!

Catch-up post

August 16, 2009 by Pamela

I’ve been weighing in at home since my last post, but the figures didn’t change and I got a little (okay, a LOT) disgruntled.

I forgot to weigh in yesterday so I did it today and I’m 163.8, which is actually a LOSS from my starting weight.  This is exciting.

I had to actually go into one of my clients for most of July and I ended up eating out every lunch and dinners.  I’m not used to working normal business hours and it totally disrupted my schedule and my blood sugars went all out of whack.  I was also really stressed and made terrible decisions.

Now I’m back working from home and took last week off for the most part.  I feel like I”m ready to get back on this thing.

I have three more months of this challenge and though I’m pretty sure that I’m not going to make my goal – I’m going to get as close to it as possible!

Super Healthy Breakfast

July 5, 2009 by Pamela

Or…how I spent too much money eating out over the weekend and have to eat at home this week.

I feel like it is a message from a higher being that I had a forgotten quarterly bill drawn out of my account.  So I’m not eating out this week – no matter how bored I get.

The exception being Friday night when I have dinner plans…but at least one time a week is better than once (or twice) a day.  Right?

So my breakfast was my own, lighter version of an egg mcmuffin.   I used egg beaters, morningstar farms sausage links, one slice of american cheese and, my new favorite grocery store find:  Oroweat Sandwich Thins. (Multi-grain variety TYVM).

Here is what the bag looks like:

Oroweat_SW_ThinsThey are thinner than a roll and more satisfying (to me) than bread.

I’ve used them for toast, peanut butter sandwiches, and veggie burgers.  They are only 100 calories and have decent amounts of fiber.  For you diabetics out there – 19gm of carbs.

Yum!

So anyway.  I should see good progress on my next weigh in if I am only eating from my fridge.  The worst thing I have to snack on are sugar-free popsicles.

I’ll keep you posted.

(I don’t work for Oroweat, just love this product)

One Month In.

June 15, 2009 by Pamela

And I’m up 1.8lbs.

The last few weeks have been nothing short of hell.  I’ve been working and having to deal with all of the end of quarter projects and papers.  I’ve been totally stressed and pretty much fallen off the wagon.

So the fact that I’ve only gained .3lbs in the last two weeks is astonishing.  I’ve been eating out almost every meal and gave myself a reprieve from exercising.

Today I begin anew.

I am only eating out on Sundays – I usually go out to breakfast and a movie with my mom Sunday mornings and don’t want to miss that.  However, that event does not mean I get to fall off the wagon.  It just means that I’ll be eating out.

I am going to exercise every day.  Already missed my shot at the gym this morning so I’ll be doing a DVD at home tonight.

Some things that I’m proud of from the last two weeks:

1.  I went to my sister-in-laws birthday AND a baby shower.  I skipped dessert both times.

2.  I went down a dress size and actually found a dress for my reunion that I don’t hate and fit me well!

3.  I found the best place to buy Altoids – they even have GINGER Altoids.  I’m in heaven!

So that’s my deal.  Today is my first day of completely eating at home and eating healthier.

I’m starving.

June 1, 2009: Weigh In

June 1, 2009 by Pamela

Well, as you can see from my “weigh in” page, I gained 1.5lbs.   I’ve been eating well (but could do a little better) but I haven’t been exercising.  My last week of school is this week and so I’m forgiving myself on exercise until next weekend.

Some positive things that happened:

1.  My blood sugars are great!

2.  I was able to cross my legs at the knee comfortably.

3.  My chin and my neck are distinguishable from one another!

4.  I went down a pants size!  Hurrah!

5.  I was at my SIL’s birthday party yesterday watching everyone chow down on cake and ice cream – I had NONE!

It’s the little things that count…
